Glacier Days 6 & 7

July 3rd. Was to be a high wind day with possible rain. Well we can certainly tell you when the weatherman perdicts high winds they sure do mean business. Tuesday, day 6, we stayed home and hoped to take care anything which might crop up with the high winds warning. The day started out dismal and cold!!!! The temp reached 55 and it was July 3rd. When the weatherman says high winds around here, he means it. They came right through the mountain passes and were gusting upwards of 50 to 60 mph. Our RV rocked and rolled all day and night long, even thoug the jacks were solidly on the ground. It was so cold (39 degrees at night) we had both furnaces working trying to keep us warm. Nancy made chicken noodle soup for lunch so we had humidity in the air and then for dinner it was chicken stew. Our front window was steamy all day long. Everything in the RV worked fine.

What a Beautiful place this Glacier National Park is!!!!!!

When you're in areas such as this there are all sorts of signs telling you to take everything out you took in....cause this is bear country. The saying is a fed bear is a dead bear. So we cleaned up our area with extra care. Charley was on her leash while we ate lunch and she just loved it. I think she smelled a BEAR ;)

July 4th. The rest of the nation was HOT, HOT, HOT....but we still needed our winter coats. The day never reached 60. This is the day we went to “Two Medicine” in East Glacier. Two Medicine is a terrific area if you like to fish. The little camp store is slick and we did find a nice picnic area to have lunch. It was right on the Two Medicine River.

After lunch we headed for East Glacier, this was the area the Great Northern Railway Company had built a lodge (across from the train stop) in the early 1900's. We toured the lodge and what a beauty of a building. We sat on the porch overlooking the pool and a mountain.....just taking in the scenery. Then we drove across the street to see the old train station and then off for a piece of huckleberry pie. Ohhh it sure was good.
