Glacier, Day 8

Our 8th day in the park and also our last day to enjoy this beauty. We are planning to drive across the park to West Glacier and back on the same mountain road. We started out real early, like, before 8:00 in the morning. Whoa, Nellie! what did we see? ….. a small brown bear cub right alongside the road. Before we could react and get the cameras out he was outa there. But it sure was nice to see a little one. Mom must be in the area, too.
That little blob of brown is a Bear!!
Too slow with the camera!

We continue on and our “onStar” announces we have “low tire pressure”. What should we do? We are too far into the park to go back so we might as well continue on. At West Glacier insteading of heading back on bad tires we will go into Kalispell and see about new ones. So we continue on our way with Tom worrying about tire pressure all the way. We arrive at Logan Pass and hardly a soul is there. We get out stretch our legs some, then get back into the car and continue on our way. Since it is the 4th .Holiday, the work crews aren't out and we have no delays. We stopped alongside Lake McDonald, the largest lake in the park, on the western side of the park to see the scenery and we got some great photos. At Apgar Village we have to get out and look around. It really is quite a big area with cabins, campground, stores and a busy hustling village. Then it was onto to Kalispell. We found a Costco. They checked the tires and said nothing wrong just a little nitrogen in them and you're good to go. Seems due to the cold mountain air you have this problem until the warm afternoon sun can heat things up. These are “Florida tires”, you know!! Not used to cold pavement, air, etc. We found a Famous Dave's for lunch before heading eastbound on US 2 instead of going up high into the mountains on the Going to the Sun road again. What a great day and ending to the “Crown of the Continent” vacation. This park simply spoils you for anything else to come along.

Charlie has been SUPER with all of the sightseeing.
