July 4, 2011

Last Wednesday we headed into Plainfield to help with putting together some of the items Allstate sent Greg.Greg's office was suppose to be all partitioned and ready for furniture on June 24th. Did not happen, so when the furniture was delivered the freight company did not put together any of his furniture or signs and it was stored in an unused section of the strip mall..Greg was to open his office on July 1st. But the management company did not get it done on time, which made the whole process delayed. We started with a couple of chairs. The seats went on fine....the backs not so good, but we did get them together! Next was the lounge chairs....real easy and quick. Hope the rest of the items do as well. Next was the sign, opened the box and we are missing one item that was to be enclosed. Guess we did not need to do that. Opened a couple of other boxes, oh wait that is the missing piece to the sign. So Tom being the engineer starts putting the sign together. Aftergetting it almost finished oh, wait here are the direction. We need to take it apart to do it the correct way (?) and we have it almost together and what's that? We can't get the internal pieces in there the way the direction tell us to...so we take the blasted sign apart and go back to the way Tom had originally tried to put it together. Remember these items came all pre-drilled and they are suppose to go together real easy? NOT! After about two hours with this sign we head out to lunch. We did all this in an empty office down a few doors where his office will be. After lunch we return to finish any odd pieces that we might be able to put together and lo and behold someone from the management company came in and turned on the a/c for us. How we would have loved that on all morning.Thursday we putted around until the building inspector comes around and gave his almighty blessing...then it's up to us and management company to move all the furniture and the rest of the boxed items into the office. Remember all the lovely cool days we had here in Illinois? Well they went out the door the minute we thought about getting items in place. Try 95 degrees and lots of humidity!! What Greg had set up would have been lovely, but that just did not happen. By Thursday evening everyone was tired and tomorrow would be his big day.
Friday we stayed at the campground until late in the day. Greg had some people in from Allstate in the morning to help get the computers up and online with Allstate. We got into the office late afternoon and things are really happening. Lynn had tried to put together a sign and could not get it totally together. So Tom and Lynn are trying to get it together with my help.. what a week this has turned out to be. Friday evening fell and we were all tired and Greg was frustrated also. By the time Greg left his office he still did not have everything running smoothly. We sure hope he can rest easy and have things up running smoothly before the long holiday week-end is up.
Saturday we head back to the office and yes Greg is already there. Tom helps put together a few more items and Greg is still reading how some of this stuff is suppose to go. Wish I could help.

Sunday....Sunday a day of rest! Greg, Lynn, Emily and Allison come out to the motorhome and we have a good old fashioned holiday picnic. We all head to the putt-putt golf and the girls absolutely love it. Tom had purchased some of the big bubble blowers wands and they loved trying to make big bubbles and then catching them either on the wands or popping them with their hands. Lots of laughter and fun was had by all. What a nice 3rd. We had.
